In 2024, Washington’s manager went 12-5, building the conference championship. It was the team’s first season since 1991 with more than 12 wins. The commander was led by rookie QB Jayden Daniels.
He quickly changed his franchise outlook and made Washington the NFC candidate. With Daniels as QB, WR Terry McLaurin had one of the most productive seasons in the NFL. The 29-year-old is in the final season of his three-year contract and is eligible for an extension. However, talks between the commander and McClaulin’s agents have stopped this offseason. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, McClaulin said he wanted to “have a wealth of clarity” about his desire to stay in Washington.

Washington, who won his third pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, selected WR Terry McLaurin from Ohio. The two-time Pro Bowler started all 97 games he played over six seasons. During his time with Washington, the commander put in and out of several quarterbacks. Despite his departure, McClaurin found success. Over the past five seasons, McClaulin has earned at least 77 catches and 1,000 receiving yards for the Commander.
In the 2024 draft, Washington used his second overall pick to draft QB Jayden Daniels from LSU. He won the Rookie of the Year in 2024, threw for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Daniels was QB and Terry McClaulin had 82 receptions with 1,096 reception yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns. After that production, McClaulin is watching a contract extension from Washington.

Recently, Terry McClaulin spoke about her frustration with the media and the team. The previous three-round pick said it was “unfortunate” that new contract progress has not increased. Furthermore, McClaurin wanted to “have abundantly and clearly” what he wanted to be with the commander. Reports say McLaurin is hoping to pay $30 million on average annual value.
It would put him there on the NFL top WR deal. Ja’marr Chase makes the most money in WR in 2025 at $40,250,000. The other eight WRs will average an annual average of $30 million next season. Terry McClaurin wants to be paid like WR1. By the next fall, McClaurin will be 30 years old. It cannot stop the commander from paying him long-term deals. They finally have a franchise QB who can consistently get McClurlyn into the ball. As the 2025 season approaches, we’ll see how the Washington front office handles it all.
