Cristina Garza joins UTA Independent Film Group

Industry veteran Christina Garza will join UTA Independent Film Group as an agent where she will work on developing financial and sales strategies for independent film and television packages.

Based in New York, Garza most recently served as senior vice president of television development and production at The Fifth Season, where he led film and premium television development, production and sales, and managed numerous producer pod deals.

In her new role, the agent will attend Sundance (January 22-February 1) and Berlin (February 12-22) as part of a team led by partner and head of the UTA Independent Film Group, Lena Ronson.

“Christina has extensive development, sales and packaging experience, and a history of building bridges between international creators and the U.S. industry,” Ronson said. screen. “Her arrival strengthens our commitment to expand our global presence in both independent films and our growing international television co-production business.”

In previous senior roles, Mr. Garza worked at CA Media Finance where he led Latinx content at Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios and before that ran Mundial, the Latin American film sales division at Ford’s IM Global.

Prior to joining Mundial, he oversaw distribution at Canana, a Mexico City-based production and distribution company founded by Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna, and Pablo Cruz.

Highlights of current and recent UTA Independent Film Group packages include sponsorship of Jason Segel and James Ponsoldt; Warrior Kid’s Path With Chris Pratt.
