It went back a lot (remember the old ones?) at Blizzcon in 2023, with the Diablo TTRPG finally unveiled, with Glass Cannon not painted on the reins. But since then, little has been said. Finally, Diablo Role-playing Game Announcing that a Kickstarter campaign is ongoing, revealing early details and showing off an impressive cast of writers and designers.
If you’re not aware of the work of Glass Cannon Unplugged, the company is careful to turn some of the best PC games into board games and TTRPGs. Something like Dying Light, Apex Legends, and Frostpunk have been undergoing this treatment so far. It’s soon to be Diablo’s turn with Diablo The Roleplaying game. Apart from the fact that it existed, there was not much to say about it while Blizzcon revealed almost two years ago. Now we know more thanks to that shiny new Kickstarter page.
“Massive Core Rulebook offers over 300 pages of original game rules, rich lore and breathtaking art,” Glass Cannon’s pledge. It also comes with an “anthology of one-shot adventures,” which writes talents working in Diablo Games, Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, and more.
Kickstarter also confirms that the prominent headphones are driven by a custom D6 dice pool system created by Chojo Rafavi and several other talented TTRPG wizards.
Diablo role-playing games are proud to push players directly into the action as skilled demon killers without taking time to reach high levels of power. “There’s no inexperienced, squishy first level here,” Glass Cannon says. “Start your fully equipped adventure as a veteran hero ready to live the epic level of dreams of TTRPGS from the moment you’re no session.”
As you expect and expect, the classic Diablo class appears here, along with the wild bars, druids, necromans, ties and magicians that have been named (this is the same core quintet that Diablo 4 provided players before adding Spiritborne to the container of hatred).
