Who is Sherone Moore?
Moore is an American college football coach and former player who most recently served as the head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines.
The Derby, Kan., native played college football at the University of Oklahoma before going on to coach at Louisville and Central Michigan. Moore joined the University of Michigan staff in 2018, was promoted to offensive coordinator and acting head coach in 2023, and became full head coach in 2024. His tenure included leading the Wolverines to a national title game appearance and notable regular season success.

Why was Sherone Moore fired and arrested?
Moore was fired by the University of Michigan on December 10, 2025, after an internal investigation found “credible evidence” that he had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Hours after he was fired, he was arrested by local police on suspicion of assault and was taken into custody and held at the Washtenaw County Jail while the investigation continues.
“The investigation is ongoing at this time,” Pittsfield Township Police said in a statement, according to CNN. “Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and the current circumstances, we are prohibited from releasing further details. Further details regarding the incident will be released as soon as they are available.”
