Elena Oxman’s ‘Outerlands’ wins first Queer Media Society award in Munich

American writer director Elena Oxman Outerlands He will be the first recipient of the Queer Media Society (QMS) Awards at this year’s Munich International Film Festival in Germany.

Outerlands Starring Asian Kate Dillon as Cass. Cass juggles her job as a nanny, restaurant server and party drug dealer. After a one-night stand with a colleague, Cass agrees to see her daughter Ari leaving town. However, as the days pass without words and without ants, they form a bond that brings Cas back to their difficult childhood.

The award comes with a 4,000 euro prize. It is sponsored by Warner Bros Discovery and supported by the Bavarian Regional Film Fund FFF Bayern and the Schachtsiek Family Foundation.

The film premiered on SXSW in March. Italian Coscinel movie sales handle sales.

“(Outerlands) “We’ve been working hard to get into the world,” said the chairman of the ju, German film director Angelina McCarron.

The film will be screened at the festival this week, with Oxman presenting.

The award was announced Monday evening after a day of panel discussion at the Beergarden Convention, a festival dedicated to promoting diversity in the international film industry.
