On July 5th, Tesla CEO and former White House adviser Elon Musk announced that he will create a new political party following the split with President Donald Trump over one big beautiful bill act passed in Congress last week.

Musk, who became Trump’s ally in the week of the 2024 presidential election and led a task force known as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), broke with the Republican president in his signature law, which was signed into law by Trump on July 4th.

What the mask said

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and grafts, we live in one party system, not democracy,” Musk wrote on July 5th of X, the social media company he owns. “Today, the American Party is formed to give you your freedom back.”
