Elon Musk’s net worth fell from $43.2 billion to $357 billion to $75 billion in 2025, with Tesla stocks falling 18% in 2025, a political fallout with President Donald Trump and widespread vandalism targeting his EV brand.

The only other billionaire whose net worth has fallen so much is Bill Gates, but in his case he gives it to charity.

On the other hand, Larry Ellison and Mark Zuckerberg made great profits from AI Rally. For Elon Musk, 2025 was a volatile year. In January, he (and his Tesla stock) was flying high due to his warm relationship with the world’s most powerful man, the US president.

Bromance was declining

A few months later, his relationship with Trump became sour, and Musk, the wealthiest man on the planet, left the White House. He left the government’s efficiency department he created to refocus on Tesla as he struggles with stock prices in the boycott and roller coaster movement.

Relations got worse then, with Trump threatening to pull Musk’s private business contract.

On the last day of 2024, Musk’s net worth was $43.2 billion. At the time of writing, Musk’s net worth is $357 billion. Bloomberg Billionaire Indexrepresents a decrease of $75 billion.

Others saw their wealth soar

Conversely, many others on the rich list of the world have seen their fate soar for AI-led gatherings in the market. For example, Oracle’s Larry Ellison has grown from $192 billion at the end of last year to $33 billion today. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg has risen from $207 billion at the end of 2024 to $272 billion at the time of writing, Fortune added.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost $234 billion at the time of writing, starting from $239 billion at the end of 2024.

Bloomberg’s billionaires index reveals that Gates’ fortune fell overnight from $175 billion to $124 billion on July 2, which is due to recalculations. The index explained that the number was reduced “to better reflect the external charities of the Gate.”

Bloomberg also updated the figures to reflect Gates’ statement, confirming that he has virtually given all of his funds to his foundations.

Gates said his net worth donation (a $100 billion summary) has a warning. The foundation’s work and its $200 billion (including current donations and projected growth) must be spent over the next 20 years. The Gates Foundation then closes that door forever.
