If you love something like Civ, you probably have your favorite strategy in mind: science, culture, faith, or perhaps military power. But the most interesting choice comes as these aspects begin to interweave. The Infinite Legend 2 Developer Amplitude Studios has revealed the final faction that can be accessed on the first day, a group of “respectful followers” known as Tahuk. Under a new home with the indie publisher’s hooded horse, a sequel to the much-anticipated strategy is finally about to arrive.
I still hold the first Infinite Legend as my personal favorite along with Civ 5, and stand out on the best 4x game list that lasts for 10 years. So I look forward to spending time with Endless Legend 2 naturally, especially as Civ 7 feels like Firaxis still needs a little more time to reach its full potential. My initial impression from opening hours was strong, reinforcing the sense that the faction was as interestingly diverse as the original, but its build lacked two of the five playable groups when early access began.
Of the pairs I couldn’t see, I know what to expect from the last lord. But Toughk may just have secured himself as my first choice option to kick off. Senior story and game designer Nitya Abdoul Carime explains how their “unique mix of faith and technology” challenges their infinite understanding.
“They hope that their devotion will bring back the wise men and see the stars for signs of their return,” Carime says of the Tahuk Society. At the heart of their worship is an infinite relic known as the Holy Okrum. This is a device that can guide scientific production to a variety of powerful capabilities. It can be used as a positive measure, such as bathing in the “Eternal Sun” to maximize productivity, or as a weapon that can mess up national faith or destroy vast lands.
Of course, Saiadha’s environment has already changed and swirled thanks to Tidefall. Tidefall transforms the maps of fantasy games in the process of playthroughs, retreating as the water retreats and reveals new paths, opportunities and points of interest. These global events, Carime Nots, have the potential to “disrupt the balance of delicate power” at the dominant Tahuk Council, and “even change the way we see endlessness and faith in technology.”
Your most enthusiastic followers can be sent to act as missionaries in other empires and provide access to potential Intel and resources. Tahuk can also build observatory observatory on any mountain ridge. These have the ability to upgrade to a library to boost your economy, or “sacred flames” that essentially serve as a powerful defensive turret that can fire on nearby enemy forces.

Military, Tahuks act almost entirely on the realm, with only followers stepping into melee combat. Their long range options range from mobile archers to slower but more powerful artillery, and attacks from all tough units can cause their targets to be “lit up.” This buff will grant your closest troops a defense bonus during battle, but a ranged attacker will bring “even more devastating blows” to the illuminated victim. Therefore, in order to make the most of this tool as much as possible, we recommend that you acquire enemies with Focus Fire.
Endless Legend 2 will begin early access via Steam and Microsoft Store on Monday, September 22nd. It can also be used on your PC Game Pass from the first day.
If you’re looking for more 4x options, we chose the best games like Civilization in 2025. I’m also watching a lot of the best strategy games on my PC right now.
Which fact do you play first? Please let us know on Community Discord Server. I was leaning towards the relative “normality” of Sherredin’s relatives, but the additional twist that Tahoek brings to the table may have beaten me.
