The European Council meeting is here. EU leaders are in Brussels for a “make-or-break” summit on Thursday and Friday this week. Big decisions will have to be made on key issues, from saving face for Ukraine to stopping the Mercosur trade deal from falling off a cliff.

To find out more about why this December gathering is so important, we immediately head to the EU Council building, where Euronews correspondent Shona Murray speaks.

Now we turn to Ukraine. The stakes could not be higher for Ukrainian President Zelenky, who has recently come under brutal pressure to concede territory to Russia. For more information about President Zelenskiy’s summit attendance, Ukraine correspondent Sasha Vakulina appears in the studio.

And after a busy trip to Strasbourg, EU News Editor Maria Tadeo returns to Brussels to take part in the pre-EPP summit huddle at the Sofitel Hotel in the EU region. Live for Europe Today she will interview Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden.

Finally, let’s look at the summit from another perspective: logistics. They’re quite the presence, and our Jakub Janas is tasked with explaining everything that’s going on behind the scenes.
