Fallout 76 Nuclear fission arrives, and as a result, fishing arrives at Bethesda MMORPG. New updates to online survival games are pretty important, but far from everything you can expect. At the Summer 2025 Game Fest, we spoke to creative director John Rush and lead producer Bir Lacoste about what’s going on in the remaining 76 seasons of the year. This, in addition to the bullying of “one of the biggest and most impactful patches” seen so far, there is also the promise of major upgrades to make the building easier.

The launch of Fallout 76 Fishing Update is going very smoothly, Rush said. “The reception was great. You know. I think people really love fishing. And what’s better than fishing in the wasteland with your friends? It’s so much fun.” I admit I was impressed with Bethesda’s implementation. Rather than sticking to a simple mini-game and calling it a day, we framed the entire survival game season within our activities.

The fishing mechanism is also solid. Not a new hiber for digital recreation in linecasting. Surprisingly, the award may be sent to a great blade for skillfully using the Dual Sense adaptive trigger, but I have a soft spot for Stardew Valley, and although I’m not good at it, the ’76s offering the ’76s outweigh many of its many candidates. “This isn’t just fishing,” Lacoste agrees. “There are many systems. It’s “Here there are some spots on the water and there’s a dock where you can fish.” You can fish wherever you can swim. ”

With sufficient rewards to earn, players will build their own small fishing villages and use effects such as rad storms and thunderstorms to increase the chances of rare catches. “The fact that we have some small systems entangled there gives me the opportunity to engage with the world.

Rush says the team has been talking about fishing for a long time, and that was something the Bethesda team wanted to do in the end. “I think the timing felt now because I really enjoyed some of the game’s important demographics over the last year and a half.” We had the initial raid, sparkling depth, the addition of a four-star legend that changes builds, and more recently the introduction of the ability to turn your character into ghouls. “It feels like a fun summer activity with a side-by-side summer — all of that timing (we knew) people may be ready for a more socially focused update.”

“If you’re playing some of these other games that take hours of raids or something and you’re playing keypresses everywhere, you’ll ultimately need a break. You want to do something fun with your friends,” laughs Lacoste. “I think that’s what Fallout 76 and Gone Fissing do for people. You’ve experienced an assault, you’ve gone through Scorchbeast Queens. You’ll relax, wander a bit at camp, chat a bit, fish.”

The pair are excited about what the future of Fallout 76 looks like, but for now they’ve got the cards close to their chests. “We’ve had some great updates over the last year or two, but it’s just bigger and better,” Rush teases. “This holiday season, December 76 is about to get one of the biggest and most impactful patches I’ve ever had. It’s going to be huge. But I’m not going to talk about it here today.

“What I’m doing is having a great update to serve our building community in one season in the fall after a bit of collapse. “It will give them more tools and make it easier to build. It will be a great update, I can’t wait for players to get it and experience it.”

Until the Fallout 5 release date finally arrives, it seems there’s a very busy world to keep us entertained. And yes, I asked if I could see the playable Super Mutants in Fallout 76. Rush and Lacoste certainly listen to your requests.
