Fatih Akin’s Cannes drama ‘Amrum’ lands North American deal

Kino Lorber has won North American rights to Fatih Akin’s adult drama Amram He made his debut at Cannes Premiere.

Hark Bohm, who frequently collaborates with Akin, includes credits Fade and Goodbye Berlinco-written the script based on Bohm’s personal experience growing up on Amrum Island.

Star Laura Tonke, Diane Kruger and Newcomer Child actor Jasper Ole Billerbeck was set in a story that helps a 12-year-old child help his mother feed his family on the final day of World War II in the spring of 1945. As peace approaches, the enemy is much closer than the young people imagined.

Amram Since then marks Akin’s first collaboration with Kruger FadeShe won the Best Actress Award in Cannes in 2017. Akin served as producer alongside Herman Weigel.

Acquisition Kino Lorber VP Karoliina Dwyer brokered a deal with Beta Cinema CEO Dirk Schuerhoff. The play release will be followed by digital, educational and home video releases.

Amram Bombero International and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany Production is a collaboration with Rialto Film and is supported by FFA, DFFF, Moin Film Funding Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, BKM, MBB, MFG and Bavarian Film Awards.
