FBC FireThe multiplayer spinoff set in the world of Alan Wake and Control tanks steam at release, but the developer’s cure promises major changes in the future. A new statement from the studio promises that they overhauled the first few hours of the game and grinded the progression. The statement was released along with the first major patches of FBC Firebreak. This implements some of these changes.
Since the launch of FBC Firebreak on June 17th, its ratings have improved, from around 250 reviews to around 1,100 reviews to “mixed” ratings, but that’s not a warm reception. A statement from the FBC Firebreak team claims that players who play at a higher level seem to enjoy the game more, but they acknowledge that it’s difficult for players to get there. Remedy promises to make progress and unlock gear faster so that players can reach the good ones. The new patch will begin to address some of these issues, but the statement reads, “We can improve some features today and in the near future, while some others take more time and require more thoughts from us.”
However, Patch V. 1.2 offers multiple concrete improvements. For example, players no longer need to play matches at higher difficulty levels and not at higher levels. The store explicitly separates gear and cosmetics. The patch resumes job progression, allowing players to use each job’s full power set more quickly. Patch V. 1.2 also adds a significant amount of bugs and fixes in addition to changes in balance and progression. FBC Firebreak travels longer than that before becoming one of the best cooperative games, but Remedy appears to be putting up a sincere effort.
