Federal Court Blocks Labor Department From Pausing Youth Job Program

The initiative is projected to reach a $223 million deficit in 2025, the department said.

The Department of Labor has blocked the Federal Court for New York from enforcing a decision to suspend the Employment Corps, the nation’s largest housing education and vocational training program for at-risk youth.

Job Corps aims to Americans aged 16 to 24, with low incomes and faces barriers to education and employment. Federal and state agencies, private companies and unions can recruit young individuals, register with the occupational corps and receive training and occupations.
