Federal Judge Bars Trump Administration’s Funding Cuts to Sanctuary States

A federal judge in Rhode Island has blocked the Trump administration’s plan to divert Homeland Security funds from states that don’t support certain federal immigration efforts.

Monday’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Mary McElroy supports a coalition of 12 attorneys general who sued the administration this year after receiving information that several states would receive reductions in federal aid because of their sanctuary jurisdiction status.
