A federal judge in California has blocked the US State Department from temporarily moving forward in a planned restructuring that includes around 2,000 layoffs.
During a virtual hearing on June 13, US District Judge Susan Ilston said previous orders had been issued to halt the massive federal layoffs directed by President Donald Trump in May. The Justice Department has confirmed during the hearing that layoff notices scheduled to be issued Saturday will not go out.
