In 2024, the 49ers went 6-11. They were the last in NFC West and missed the playoffs after making the Super Bowl in 2023. Ahead of next season, the team has re-signed several key players.

That includes Brock Purdy and George Kittle. On Monday, NFL Insider announced that LB Fred Warner also had an extension this offseason. He won a three-year, $63 million contract to become the highest-paid LB in the NFL. Warner was guaranteed $56 million at the time of signing.

Fred Warner is currently in the 2025 season, the highest-paid LB in the NFL.

Fred Warner, 28, is currently signing with the 49ers throughout the 2029 season. He was San Francisco’s third pick in 2918 from BYU. Warner started all 115 games he played for the Ninners over seven seasons. All-Pro LB missed just one game in his professional career. He has played all 17 games with Niners over the past three years.

In four of his last five seasons, Warner was named first Team All-Pro in LB. On Monday, NFL Insiders announced that Fred Warner received the 49ers’ three-year, $63 million extension. He was scheduled to reach a $29.17 million cap in 2025 and a $26.71 million cap in 2026. Now, as Warner signs new deals, it is expected that their numbers will decrease.

Last season, Fred Warner played in his final 13 games with a small ankle fracture. Luckily, Warner said he didn’t need offseason surgery and felt “great” when he returned to the offseason program. There are no concerns about getting injured towards 2025, and Warner is expected to become a stubborn 49ers LB. Can a team bounce back after losing a record in 2024 and missed the playoffs?
