Glasgow Film promoted Theoneade Daly and Paul Gallagher to the roles of chief executives and programme officers, respectively.
They took over Alison Gardner with a new leadership structure, and Gardner left the organization in the dual roles of Glasgow Film Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Glasgow Film Festival (GFF).
Glasgow Film is a charity that runs the independent Arthouse Cinema Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT), GFF and Glasgow Youth Film Festival and is the lead organization of Filmhub Scotland. Daly and Gallagher will take part in all the activities of Glasgow films. Glasgow films are funded by Creative Scotland, Screen Scotland and Glasgow City Council.
Daly and Gallagher took on their roles in September, and Gardner left in October. Gallagher leads the creative direction of GFF and GFT.
Daly has been executive director of Glasgow Films for over five years, co-led with leading organizational strategies and oversees key areas such as funding and development, equity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Her first role was GFT’s Marketing and Event Officer in 2007. She later became GFF’s festival producer in 2009, and also held posts such as Head of Partnership at Princetrast (now Kingstrest) and Director of the Scottish Contemporary Art Network.
Gallagher has been a key member of Glasgow Film Management Team for over a decade, first serving as Marketing Manager and then as Program Manager, leading programming year-round at Glasgow Film Theatre since 2018. He began his career in journalism, Publications such as skinny, Big problem and stv.
“I’m proud to assume the CEO role at Glasgow Films, the place that shaped both my career and my love for film,” Daly said. “It is a great privilege to be responsible for such a critical institution and we are extremely excited to play an important role in ensuring the future.
“Glasgow films are in a strong position thanks to all the staff, volunteers, various people, organizations that make up our vibrant community, and of course, Allison Gardner, who has become the center of Glasgow film success.
Gallagher said: “For the past six years I have loved leading the yearly program at GFT. Working with such a wide range of partners and accepting audiences has been an education that broadens my horizons and understands the key role that independent cinemas can play in the lives of so many different people.
Gardner added: “We are delighted to see Seonaid as CEO of Glasgow Film. We know that she is passionate about our organization and supports our values. She does an incredible job and continues to make Glasgow film a vibrant and important cultural institution of film and talent.
“Paul is an excellent appointment to ensure that GFT and GFF continue to provide great cinemas that everyone has access to. His programming work at GFT has been exceptional and has become the best in the world alongside the team. It’s sad that he’s left over for over 30 years, but we’re proud to contribute to the success of GFT, GFT, GFT and our community.”
