GOP Budget Clawbacks Undermine Bipartisan Process, Democrats Say

Top Democrats in Congress say they remain united behind the bipartisan bilateral roads to fund the government, but they say that the recent Republican-backed funding clawback could make it difficult to achieve.
At a joint press conference on July 22, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) criticized GOP’s approach, particularly pointing out the $9 billion retirement package passed by the House and Senate last week.
