When the Resident Evil Requim trailer premiered in a summer game earlier this year, I lost it! I’m a huge fan of the franchise to the extent that I’m considering it for my next tattoo. So, of course, this announcement wanted to shoot a zombo. I love the psychological and grotesque body horror combination of Resident Evil, but I feel that Resident Evil Village It’s a crop cream and if you’re new to the series or want to catch up, I recommend playing it first. Luckily, I’m humbled and 75% off now, and now it’s the perfect time to add it to my library.

As I’ve probably guessed, Resident Evil Village is my favorite horror game. It’s not just a survival horror, it’s the best survival game, and I’ll stand for it until I’m in a cold place and perhaps even after returning as a zombie. It blends psychological and body fear with Gothic twists at every turn, mimicking the right measure. Story-wise, we see that Village offers one of the most persuasive stories in the series.

The village continues to follow the character of Ethan Winters. Years have passed since the incident at Baker House, but unfortunately, the horror doesn’t end for Little Ethan. Out of nowhere, an old Chris Redfield appears and grabs Rose, Ethan and Mia’s child. Ethan finds himself in a remote Eastern European village overrun by Nastis in Rose’s pursuit. By chance, this “village” is also home to a cult, a tall vampire woman and mystical mother Miranda.

Village shares many of the same mechanics as previous games in the series. In addition to all the horrifying things like being chased by a transformed fetus, the village is packed with puzzles. You need to move statues and bright things, nothing like that, anything insanely inexplicable as you find in PT, but still enough to hike your brain. You can also find a considerable number of locked doors that will inevitably force you to explore the terrain that will encounter Recan or four.

In addition to puzzles, combat has its challenges. In a review of Resident Evil Village, Dustin Bailey states, “The village is at work because the enemy is happy to fight, and the heart of the monster’s cast is a fast-moving humanoid creature with Lupin’s tendency.” And then there’s Duke. “What is Ya Buyin?” This chappie is reminiscent of a RE4 merchant. He whips your weapons, ammunition, herbs, you give it a name. Remember, inventory management is important in this game. If you need to carry a key or crank, you need to make sure there is enough space.

Until Sunday, June 29th, 2025, Resident Evil Village will be available for just 9.99/£8.24 with a sweet 75% off deal in Humble.

If you’re pushing out the boat, the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is 70% off, returning only $14.99/£11.99. The Gold Edition includes additional content. In addition to the base game, you can also get Shadows of Rose Story campaigns, Third Person Mode, Arcade Style Mode, and Merchants: Additional orders.
