Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ begins filming in the UK for Netflix

Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation Narnia’s Chronicle Ongoing in the UK for Netflix.

The film is mainly based at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, where it has already been discovered in central London.

The cast includes Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig and Carrie Mulligan, but there are unconfirmed reports that Meryl Streep was in talks to take on the voice of the Lion Aslan. Produced by Amy Pascal.

Narnia A global two-week IMAX release is scheduled for November 2026. It then hits Netflix on Christmastime later that year.

Gerwig wrote a script that was reportedly adapted from CS Lewis’s The magician’s nephew – The sixth novel of Narnia Series and first part Lion, witch, wardrobe. The story centers around two children who find Aslan, witness the creation of Narnia, and are sent to a magical world.

This is Gerwig’s second project to shoot in the UK following his 2023 mega hit Barbie Filmed at Warner Bros. Raceden, it totaled over $1.4 billion at the box office.

Netflix first acquired the rights to Lewis’ book in 2018, and confirmed Gerwig as the author and director in 2020. The final screen adaptation took place via Disney, which produced and distributed films based on the first three novels between 2005 and 2010.
