How many times have you seen the game hit stratospheric heights with incredible moments of amazing updates and amazing storytelling? Performance issues have been bothering players lately, with Arrowhead still remaining rather tightly touched, focusing on pushing out new warbonds and content updates. But now they’ve been apologised to fans, hearing feedback on Helldivers 2’s growing list of performance gremlins and are caught up in action to fix them.
Despite the aforementioned roller coaster ride, despite Helldivers 2 being turned on, it’s one of the best cooperative games that money can buy. Arrowhead was always able to bounce off the rough spot. And with the recent quality slips we’ve seen, I’m sure I’ll do that again.
“We know that a lot of people are experiencing problems, including poor performance, stability hiccups, freezes, annoying audio bugs,” the studio said in a new message. “We’ve seen feedback beyond Discord, Forums, Reddit and Dashboards. You’re loud and clear and expect better expectations. We’re also aware that recent updates haven’t reached the mark and that silence doesn’t help.
A few weeks after “mid-October” we’ll be getting an update that includes fixes for many important bugs and performance improvements. Arrowhead says it will do “long” fixes to issues such as tackling crashes, eavesdropping audio including primary weapons and side arms, and chargers with very quiet footstep sounds. There are also many changes in balance.
However, Arrowhead acknowledges that some of the bigger performance issues in Helldivers 2 can take some time to resolve.
“Unfortunately, I can’t even waving a ‘short Turner Round Magic Wand’ for some of the big performance pieces. The 60-day patch is not completely fixed (or rather, it becomes a duct tape that needs to be soldered). Therefore, we are working on a larger development plan on how to address some of the bigger concerns.
They are also working on improving transparency and communication, and there will be another blog post next week, detailing some of the biggest issues with the game, how they turned out, and what is being done to fix them. Check out the full message today from the whole Arrowhead.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit understandable that Arrowhead lets you slip through performance and bug scashing standards. Since debuting on Xbox, the game has been stuck for several months. It also had that sick halo crossover. However, recent complaints have shown that it is extremely important to strike a balance between creating new content, expanding your horizons and enduring the health of your game.
