Horror comedy reboot ‘The Toxic Avenger’ starring Peter Dinklage picked up for UK-Ireland

Exclusive: Signature Entertainment has acquired British Ireland rights for a reboot of Macon Blair’s superhero horror comedy The toxic Avenger, Peter Dinklege will be appearing and the theatrical release is scheduled for August 29th.

Signature featured the film from 193, a US distributor launched earlier this year by Patrick Wachsberger and Legendary Entertainment.

The US Feature World premiered at Fantastic Fest and ran a genre festival that included Beyond Fest and Sitges.

Dinklege leads the cast, including Jacob Trembray, Taylor Page, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Julia Davis and Luisa Guerreiro.

Producers include Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Hertz of Troma Entertainment, Alex Garcia and Mary’s parents of legendary photographs. Blair and Kaufman write the script with Joe Ritter.

In the film, a shocking accident transforms an oppressed admin into a mutant vigilante. Armed with his signature mop, the unlikely hero fights freaks, gangsters and corrupt CEOs while trying to save his relationship with his son.

The new title is a reboot The Toxic Avenger The franchise began in 1984 with an original Kaufmann and Hertz film.

The Toxic Avenger says Katie Wilkinson-Javes, acquisition and development manager of Signature Entertainments.
