Iran denied involvement in suspected terrorism at the Israeli Embassy in London after five Iranian citizens were arrested on Saturday.

Four men arrested in counterterrorist attacks across the UK over the weekend are still questioned by police who say they have been detained in connection with a suspected plan to attack “specific facilities.”

Metropolitan Police said they could not provide details in the “fast” investigation.

However, British media reports suggest that the intended target was the Israeli embassy in central London.

In response to the allegations, Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Aragut said Iran was never involved in a suspicious conspiracy.

“Iran on uncertain terms adamantly refuses to engage in such actions and confirms that he has not been informed of the allegations through appropriate diplomatic channels,” he wrote to X on Wednesday evening.

He added that Iran will support the UK in an investigation into “reliable allegations.”

British security minister Dan Jarvis confirmed Monday that one of the five Iranians arrested on Saturday was released on strict bail conditions.

In a statement shared with Euroneus, Dominique Murphy, head of Metropolitan Police’s counterterrorism command, said an investigation is ongoing.

“This is a fast moving counter-terrorism investigation and there are important operational reasons why we can’t provide further information at this time,” he said.

“We will try to share details as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we will ask the public to stay vigilant and contact us if there are concerns,” he added.

The force confirmed that “advice and support” was being provided to targeted facilities.
