The Boston Bruins have started the 2024 NHL season significantly poorly, resulting in head coach Jim Montgomery at risk of losing his job.
Jim Montgomery’s job at risk
For Boston Bruins fans, the season is not an easy start, winning just four after 11 games played so far.
Boston lost again on Thursday, increasing pressure in Massachusetts, already marking his second back-to-back loss in the NHL of the season.
An 8-2 loss to the Hurricanes is Jim Montgomery’s latest defeat on the part of him, and the Bruins head coach could be looking for a new job if the outcome doesn’t turn around anytime soon.
“We are not happy right now,” Montgomery said after the loss. “No one is happy about what’s going on, but we’ll get out of it. We’ll get better.

“There is no substitute for the second and third efforts.”
With one win in their last six games, the Bruins have struggled, playing against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
It appears that the players have not yet given up on the coaching staff, and Trent Frederick has argued that they should stick together through a difficult run after the loss of the hurricane.
“I think everyone needs to come together. I think everyone needs to be teams first because teams with a lot of individuals, including myself, aren’t doing well.
“And I’m not saying that, but individual things will come and everything will blend together.”
It was the Bruins offense that beat the team most to start 2024, with just 29 goals scored in the first 11 games of the campaign.

The Flyers are rising next to Boston, representing a good opportunity for the Bruins to turn things around as another team with the same record after 11 games.
