Vice President JD Vance arrived for a meeting at the Vatican and a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Meloni, who positioned himself as a bridge between the US and Europe, received praise from President Donald Trump for cracking down on migration at a meeting in the oval office on Thursday.
Vance, who attended the meeting, is scheduled to meet Meloni later Friday and will be attending the Easter Weekend event at the Vatican.
He was scheduled to meet with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, the White House said.
No meeting with Pope Francis has been announced.
