US actress and producer Jennifer Lawrence was asked for her opinion on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the fact that it is her upcoming film. Die my loveDirector Lynn Ramsay is released by Mbi following a controversy linking the company with the company, which also invests in Israeli military technology companies.
Speaking at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF) today (September 26th), Lawrence had not addressed Mbi’s topic directly, but he explained her views in clear terms that he was highly critical of US policy.
“What’s going on is not just genocide, it’s unacceptable,” Lawrence said. “Everyone has to remember that even if they ignore what is going on on one side of the world, it won’t be long until it’s on your side.
“I hope I can say, I hope I can fix this very complicated and dishonorable situation that breaks my heart, but I think the reality is that I’m going to talk too much about and answer too much of these questions.
“I want people to stay focused on whoever is in charge and what they can do when they need to come in and vote. And don’t let the actors and artists who are trying to express art freedom, freedom of speech, actually take away the heat of the responsible individual.”
Following comments made before the festival by Angelina Jolie, she expressed concern about the current state of American politics, Lawrence said, “The kids who are voting now, the 18-year-olds, will be completely normal for them that politics is not honest and politicians are lying.”
She added that she is concerned that freedom of expression is at risk in her home country. “Our freedom of speech is under attack.”
Lawrence attends SSIFF, has received the prestigious Donostia Award and participates in glass cleaning Die, my love, Explore the problems of postpartum depression. As a mother of two, Lawrence said she had “a very good postnatal” after the birth of her first child, but after the second time she said it was “really tough.”
“I’m watching the film now and looking back, I see everything and feel like I’m going through it.”
Lawrence said he was inspired by the film’s production and starring after receiving a call from Martin Scorsese, who read a book that inspired the film.
Die, my love Producers Andrea Calderwood and Justine Ciarrochi joined Lawrence at a press conference.
