Exclusive: The main photos are wrapped in Mississauga, Ontario tHe is a resident of the roomThe story debut of Canadian author and film programmer Kier-la Janisse.

Set to be ready for markets and festivals this fall, the film is based on the classic ghost story of British writer Algernon Blackwood and adapts to Janice’s screen. Don McKellar stars as a school teacher who arrives at a hotel in the Alps late at night.

Also cast include Ben Petry and Delphine Russel, and filming is by Karim Hussein.

The project is produced by Liane Cunje and Shannon Hanmer of Ruby Mannequin Films, and Spectacular Optical, a company of Janisse. David Gregory of Severin Films and Carl Daft and Rob Cotteril of Yar Dead Productions are executive producers.

Janice previously directed the 2021 horror documentary Forest Darkness and Days: The Fear of Folklore HistoryHe won the Midnighters Audies Award at SXSW. She is also the author of horror memoirs A mentally ill woman’s house.
