The US will not hinder Ukraine’s obligations related to the European Union’s accession process in the future US ukraine mineral trade, according to the “Memorandum of Intent” seen by the Euroneuz.

Important negotiations are expected in Washington between April 21 and 26, according to a one-page document signed by the Treasury Secretary on Thursday evening with Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister, Prime Minister Yulia Swillidenko.

“The United States respects Ukraine’s intention to avoid disputes in drafting an agreement with Ukraine’s obligations based on the accession of the European Union or in agreements with international financial institutions and other official creditors,” the document states.

In early April, Ukraine tried to reassure Brussels that they would not leave their membership bids as a result of negotiations with the US.

“It should be a partnership agreement, so on equal terms on both sides,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Dennis Schmichal said during his visit to Brussels.

These reliefs circulated at the end of March, leaked to the press, and revived the fears that they could emerge after a draft version of the mineral trade, and could derail the country’s ambitions to join the bloc.

What are the deals available?

The proposed US-Crane Minerals Trade focuses on development and co-investment in Ukraine’s natural resources, including important minerals such as lithium, graphite and uranium.

The transaction aims to establish a reconstruction investment fund to support Ukraine’s postwar recovery in exchange for access to Ukraine’s main infrastructure and share of profits.
