Famous British film Stills photographer David Appleby passed away at his Somerset home at the age of 77.
London-born Appleby enjoyed a lifelong collaboration with filmmaker Alan Parker. bugsy malone, Parker’s first major feature film. They continued to work together Midnight Express, Mississippi Burning, Commitment, Ebita and David Gale’s life.
Parker passed away in 2020.
Appleby also shot stills for Ridley Scott’s debut feature Duelist, Similarly 1492: Conquest of Paradise, Kingdom of Heaven and Robin Hood.
He was born in Wandsworth, London in 1947 and developed an early passion for film and photography. He left school at 15 and with the support of his parents, he went to support a London photographer while enrolling in evening classes for photography. He won early work in commercials, where he first met directors Parker and Scott, Tony Scott and Adrian Lynn.
Appleby has become known for its quiet, modest stealth approach on film sets.

He is survived by his wife, brothers, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
