If you’re familiar with the extraction shooter, like the Tarkov or Hunt showdown, or the dark, dark RPG Leaning experience, you’re familiar with the general premise of Mistfall Hunter. Equip loadouts, spawn, plunder and extract with merchandise on vast maps filled with PVE enemies and other human players. Death will lose all the gear you ran, but if you kill other players, their weapons, armor and items are yours.
But despite the growing list of recent extraction experiences, I have a hard time thinking about what offers the best challenging combat, and the dark fantasy aesthetic of the best soul-slims. Mistfall Hunter wants to own a niche corner of the world of extraction as a third-person RPG full of satisfying melee weapons and elemental magic.
Five classes – Mercenary, Sorcerer, BlackArrow, Shadowstrix and Seer – all match different playstyles.
Developer Bellring Games has launched a new open beta as they are about to ramp up things up before launch. In the opening day (the day the shadow drop of the oblivion remaster may add), the new beta version has reached its peak for steam of over 9,500 players. This is technically an open beta, but if you’re thinking of signing up for yourself, it’s worth considering the location of these servers.
The latest Mistfall Hunter Beta is currently live on Steam. Although no specific end date is given, Bellring Games says it will run “more than two weeks.” This beta supports matchmaking for solo runners or teams of three. If you want to join and try it, you can do it on this Steam page.
