Despite their names, the best idle games usually have plenty of choice for the player. Whether you decide the best way to apply resources to a cookie clicker or lay out the route in a loop hero, Smart Clicker Design uses automated elements to enhance the overall experience. Together these concepts in a top-down fighting style reminiscent of vampire survivors; Nomadic idol It’s just arrived at steam and it’s already eye-catching with its surprisingly deep design.
Nomad Idle is a new indie game by developer The Fox Nocks and a follow-up to the studio’s debut release Nomad Survival, falling more into the traditional vampire survivor type. As an idol game, you can sit and watch your characters move and attack enemies without doing anything, but you can manually activate character-specific skills and abilities to speed up progress or push past difficult challenges with true clicker fashion.
However, don’t mistake that initial simplicity for a lack of depth. As soon as you level up, you can start distributing points to seven different stats. For example, leveling flexibility improves the effect of reduced cooldowns, projectile speed, and damage overtime. For example, putting points in wisdom increases the damage handled by mana, regeneration of mana, and summoning.
Beyond that, you can find equipment in the field and start creating your own custom gear using materials cultivated from enemies. These pieces can be upgraded further over time. From there you can also unlock and use additional passive skills that are automatically triggered in combat. Of course, there is even the aforementioned option to learn how to summon or recruit other creatures and fight on your side.
Unlike some clicker games, Fox Knock says that Nomad Idle is not designed to be infinite. However, along the way, there are some really fun discoveries. I don’t want to throw it away much, but I really like the meditative thoughts that start to creep up from your character’s brain as death begins to pile up.
