After a brilliant start to the series, the Celtics lost games 1 and 2 to the Knicks at home. They are currently down 2-0 in the East semi-finals and will travel to New York for games 3 and 4.
On Thursday, sports talk show co-host Nick Wright had a surprising view. He said Jason Tatum of Boston was Paul George’s “Kobe Bryant.” Wright is not afraid to speak his mind, and he did not refrain for this take on Tatum.

Fox Sports 1 has a daily sports talk show called First Things First. Nick Wright is one of the co-hosts. On Thursday, he discussed players who filmed at least 10 times per game. Over the past 23 years, Jason Tatum has the second lowest percentage of 3 points. It was the 2024-25 campaign with the Celtics. He shot .343% from Deep. The only player worse than Tatum in the last 23 years is Lamelo Ball. Statistical Tatum doesn’t want to participate.
Over the last two postseasons, Jason Tatum has shot .293% over the arc. This is a minimum of 75 attempts. Additionally, Nick Wright called Tatum Paul George’s “Kobe Bryant.” This is a considerable humiliation for the player who grew up idolizing the great Kobe Bryant who died. Wright said Jason Tatum was the “best” Paul George he’s ever seen. Jason Tatum is very badly hoping to become Kobe Bryant, but he’s not there yet.
Tatum’s biggest knock is his consistency in the playoffs. This was once again a problem in the 2024 postseason and 2025. In Game 2, Tatum finished with 13 points, 5-19 from the field. In the previous game he was 7-23 from the field with 23 points and 4-15 over the arc. At the end of Game 2, Tatum had the opportunity to win in Boston. However, he swarmed the Knicks’ defense and failed to shoot the shot. It was a rough start to Jason Tatum’s conference semi-finals. Will he step up to games 3 and 4 and get Boston back into the series?
