Nikkatsu boards Japanese manga adaptation ‘Wind Breaker’ ahead of ACFM

Exclusive: Studio Nikkatsu in Japan won international sales WindbreakerA live-action adaptation of the hit manga series by Satoru Nii.

Nikkatu will introduce international buyers to the features of Busan’s Asian Content and Film Market (ACFM), which will be held from September 20th to 23rd.

The film is scheduled to be released in Japan on December 5th, directed by Kentaro Hagiwara and is based on the script by Yosuke Masaike. Hagiwara is known for his comic adaptations such as: Blue period and Tokyo Ghoulwhile Masaike wrote the script The supremeness of anime!was nominated for winning the Japan Academy Award in 2023.

Action Bloeller stars Koshi, Mizukami (Until we meet again at Lily Hill) as a new high school student filled with delinquency of a boy who uses their strengths to protect the town.

The film was shot in an Okinawa location between February and April this year and was shot on an outdoor set replicating a shopping avenue that serves as an important site for the manga.

Windbreaker Written and depicted by NII, Manga was released in 2021 on the Pocket Manga magazine website of publisher Kodansha and is currently in progress. It is also adapted to the anime series released in 2024 and will be held for two seasons. Manga, published in English by Kodansha USA, has over 8 million copies in circulation.
