NEW YORK CITY – Mayor Eric Adams launched the November general election campaign at a June 26 press conference at City Hall on June 26, days after state Sen. Zoran Mamdani won the Democratic primary.
Adams, 64, was elected as a Democrat in 2021, but chose not to compete in the Democratic primary amid unpopularity among progressive voters resulting from the now-extended federal charges on bribery charges, and due to the simultaneous decision by US immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain foreigners on the city’s island.
