At least 14 people were injured on Wednesday in another massive Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday.
Those injured in the attack on Oktirkha city in the Smee region of northeastern Ukraine included a family member with a baby and two small children, Zelensky added.
“Russia continues to express fear through pure terrorist acts across Ukraine, once again targeting the homes of its families and their sleeping children,” Prime Minister Yulia Swillidenko wrote in X.
The strike targeted residential areas and caused damage to 13 private property, Svyrydenko added.
The Ukrainian air force said Russia launched 93 drones and undisclosed missiles, of which 62 drones and one missile were fired down. They reported a total of 20 locations had been hit.
“(The air attack) also targeted Chernichv, Harkav and Poltava regions,” Zelensky said.
Ukrainian leaders also reported that Moscow attacked gas transport sites in the Odesa region and yet another attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure has strengthened Russia in recent months.
“All of these are empirical strikes confirming the need to put pressure on Moscow, and the need to impose new sanctions and tariffs until diplomacy is fully effective,” Zelenskyy said in X.
“We need strong security guarantees to ensure a truly reliable and lasting peace,” he concluded.
Earlier this week, Zelensky met with European leaders at the White House with President Donald Trump to secure a peace deal and end the Russian war of attack.
Last Friday, Trump met with Alaska’s Vladimir Putin, and later announced that the Russian president was open to the idea of Ukraine’s security assurance.
