Atture Red road He won both Best Director and New Hope Awards. The Tunisian film, premiering in Locarno last year, follows a young shepherd who has to return an eerie message to his family after he and his cousin were attacked by a jihadist group. Previously he won Best Film and Best Director at Red Sea International Film Festival.

A lineup of nine international features competed for the Malaysia Golden Global Award (MGGA) held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (July 26th).

British filmmaker Asif Kapadia is also made up of Malaysian actress Diana Daniel, Hong Kong actress Jennifer Yu, Indonesian actor Reza Rahadian (winner of the award for outstanding achievements in films) and Indian film director Lima Das.

The festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to legendary Hong Kong actor Tilun in recognition of his decades of contributions to Asian films.

For the first time, the European Film Festival Malaysia (EUFF) was held in collaboration with Miffest in the 25th edition, bringing together European storytelling and cinemas from Southeast Asia.

One of the key highlights was the launch of ASEAN On Screen, an industry program dedicated to promoting local content and talent to a global audience. A series of four panel discussions took place on July 23rd, with speakers including Korean producer Lee Dong-Ha. It is also the 10th anniversary of the official establishment of the ASEAN community. The summit was presided by Deputy Minister of Communications Theo Ni Ching.
