It’s an update for the day League of Legendsand while Patch 25.10 is currently live and the patch notes are released on Wild, the news that actually caught my attention is around 25.11. With 25.11 heading towards PBE, Riot has revealed that for the first time in a long time, no new skins will be discovered on the test server. reason? Riot has remade most of that energy into the overwhelming and controversial masks of the Black Rose Skin series.
The start of this year has been tough for League of Legends, and one of the contributors was the fact that premium, high-cost leathers were not hitting the quality mark. The masks from the Black Rose Set, one of the first skin lines to fall in 2025, suffered from this mediocrity, despite being featured in the Battle Pass. The splash arts in this set, featuring Elise, Ezreal, Renatagrass, Samira, Vladimir and the Katarina of fame, looked spectacular. We also explored some really cool themes as Black Rose is a shady secret society of LOL’s universe.
But when MOBA fans actually saw these skins on the lift, it was a different story. There was criticism of the bland basic design that I found overwhelming, given the money needed to win some of them and the expectations that Splash set.
On 25.11, skinline rework arrived and with PBE updates you can check the conversion yourself. Black Rose Elise, Renata, Samira and Vladimir masks are champion skins that benefit from the expanded visuals. The following video from Skinspotlights is fantastic before and after the comparison.
However, the work required to overhaul the black rose skin was expensive. “We can pause with the skin that was normally dropped in this window and give a bit of extra love to the black rose skin. There can be a mix of updates across models, textures, and VFX.” So that means there are no new skins on 25.11. wild.
It is not known as Riot used the phrase “future window.” It’s unclear if you can actually see multiple patches without the new skin, but I think it’s just referring to 25.11. Getting just one is pretty unheard of.
LOL patch 25.11 should roll out on Wednesday, May 28th, according to Riot’s update schedule.
