Career change
Before gaining fame as a duck Cole Mogul and reality TV star, Phil worked as a teacher for several years. Phil spoke implicitly and openly about his conservative Christian values, often using his platform to consider politics, culture and morality.
He caused a huge uproar when he said homosexuality was sinful during an interview with GQ Magazine January 2014. A&E paused him immediately from the show before lifting after nine days due to strong backlash from his supporters. He continued to shock the public a year later, during his speech at the 2015 CPAC (Conference on Conservative Political Action) conference. One of the many jarring statements he made centers around his claim that the STD is a legacy of Nazis, Communists, Beatniks and hippies.
He was married for nearly 60 years
Phil married his high school lover, Marsha Kay Callaway– The century was known as Miss Cay in 1966. Despite early marriage challenges, including affairs and substance abuse, the couple stayed together for nearly 60 years.

His faith changed his life
After years of alcohol abuse and infidelity, Phil turned to Christianity in the late 1970s. This was a decision that changed the course of his life and marriage.
He discovered a long daughter in 2020
Phil revealed in his podcast that he fathered his daughter Phyllis During events in the 1970s. After DNA testing confirmed her identity, the family welcomed her.
