Philip Glass to be honoured at World Soundtrack Awards

US composer Philip Glass will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for the next 25th World Soundtrack Awards (WSA) and Film Fest Gent’s annual Film Music Awards ceremony.

Glass is known for her Academy Award nominated score thunder, timeand Notes on scandalsas well as his work The Truman Show, Koyaanisqati, and Mishima: Living in four chapters.

He will be awarded the award at the WSA ceremony and concert held in Ghent on October 16th. There, glass works will be performed by Brussels Pharharmonic, conducted by Dirk Brossé.

The 88-year-old Glass grew up in Baltimore, where he grew up early thanks to music through his father, who owned a record store. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music and continued his studies in Paris. His score is known for his relationship with the minimalist movement.
