Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown his will to end the war in Ukraine and ignores Donald Trump’s plea to stop killing civilians, his troops launched nearly 150 drones overnight, killing at least four on Sunday.

According to the Associated Press, three people have been killed and four have been injured in an airstrike in Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk area. Regional governor Serhii Lysak said a fourth person was killed and a teenage girl was injured in a drone attack at Pablo Flood in the Dnipropetrovsk area.

At the Vatican just before Pope Francis’ funeral, Trump said he doubted Putin would end a more than three-year war in Ukraine. The US President’s statement comes just two days after offering rare criticism of Putin.

“I’m not satisfied with the Russian strike in Kiev. It’s not necessary, very bad timing. Vladimir, stop! 5,000 soldiers are almost dying per week,” Trump said in a post about his true social platform. “Let’s end the peace deal!”

Russia shoots down five drones, causing 1k casualties

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that its air defense fired down five Ukrainian drones in the Bryansk border area, three more shot Crimea, and Moscow illegally annexed in 2014.

According to the Russian state-owned TASS news agency, Russian troops have killed about 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the past 24 hours.

“For the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian army has lost up to 250 military personnel in the responsible zone of Battle Group South. They have suffered losses to the personnel and equipment of six mechanized brigades.”

The agency reported 235 casualties in the western region of Ukraine, where it “breaked the formation of two mechanized aviation groups of the Ukrainian military and three territorial defense brigades.”

“The Ukrainian forces have lost up to 145 military personnel on the Northern Battle Front,” Tas added.

The losses in the area include “mechanized tanks, concentrations of personnel and equipment for two Ukrainian air attack brigades, and defence brigades. Tas said the Ukrainian forces lost another 140 soldiers and equipment on the East Front.

The CIA son died fighting for Russia

Michael Gross, son of Julian Galina, a senior Central Intelligence Agency official, confirmed by a CIA spokesman, passed away last year “while fighting in a conflict in Ukraine.”

The Wall Street Journal said CIA sources have said Gross was killed during a Ukrainian attack in the Donetsk region after signs that he has become increasingly disillusioned with the United States and joined the Russian army.

In a social media post last year, Gross shared a photo of himself smiling in the red square in Moscow, expressing his sympathy for Russia’s war efforts against what he called the “Ukrainian proxy war.”

Gloss’ mother, Gallina, was appointed to her current position at the CIA last year, taking on a senior role overseeing technology and cybersecurity.
