Who is your favorite? League of Legends eSports Pro? As someone who grew up with G2 eSports Golden Era, I have a soft spot on every player on that iconic roster, even if it didn’t work for them. Seeing it, I’ve always loved seeing Martin ‘rekkless’ Larsson inside and outside the fnatic. And we can forget Henrik ‘Froggen’ Hansen, and of course, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok in his time in North America. But perhaps even comparable to the uncovered demon king himself, is, of course, a Zian “Uji” zi-hao, who is justly told as the best bot laner to adorn the cracks. Rumors have swirled ahead of the 2025 Riot’s Hall of Legends announcement, but it’s official: Uzi joined Faker in the Lol eSports Hall of Fame.
Known for his extremely mobile ADC play style and incredible csing, Uzi is associated with Royal No Goove, the former Royal Club. One of China’s most famous League of Legends teams, Uzi started out as a Royal Club in 2012, left in 2014 and rejoined the newly appointed RNG in 2016. He won the MSI in 2018.
However, given last year’s context, the presentation is a double-edged sword. Almost every longtime fan was excited to see Faker Take situated as the first Hall of Fame player, but his dedicated Ahri skin revealed that it would cost $430 for all official bells and whistles, or $300 for a middle layer bundle with skin and some extra cosmetics.
Of course there was an Ahri skin that was rising, but it clocked in at ~$46, but for many, it felt like a disappointing award given the level of detail in the $430 version. Price split the community into the middle, leading to in-game protests after its release. The event was intended to celebrate Faker’s career, but in many ways it felt like yet another step towards increasing monetization.
Riot confirmed that Uzi has earned a skin for League of Legends Hall of Legends (Vayne feels like a major contender there). The in-game event showcasing his career has been confirmed to decline on Wednesday, June 11th. The Season Pass features a variety of cosmetics designed in collaboration with UZI, so expect to see lots of white and gold along with reference to Mad Dog’s career.
