Thomas Szabo, 26, led an internet-based group dedicated to “swatting” civil servants from multiple states.
WASHINGTON – The Romanian man pleaded guilty to a felony after making false reports to elicit tactical police responses that rely on the former US president, several congressional men, federal judges and state officials.
“Swatting” comes from a “Special Weapons and Tactics” (SWAT) team organized by police stations around the world and responds to particularly dangerous emergencies, including terrorist attacks, mass shootings and other weapons of mass destruction.
