British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged with multiple sex offences following a 13-month investigation by Metropolitan Police, sparked by a Times investigation into alleged treatment of the woman.

The 50-year-old faces two sexual assaults involving four women between 1999 and 2005 in Bournemouth and Westminster, London, in addition to their respective rape, indecent assaults and oral rape. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on May 2nd.

He denied all allegations and claimed that his relationship was agreed. The investigation intensified after the Times, Sunday Times and Channel 4 dispatches exposed their claims last year, prompting potential victims across the country to contact police. Brand was interviewed three times under warning.

The price includes the following:

  • Bournemouth woman rape in 1999
  • Indecent attacks in Westminster in 2001
  • Oral rape and sexual assault of another woman in Westminster between 2004 and 2005.

Detective Andy Fulphy, who leads the investigation, said the women reporting the case still receive support from trained experts. The Met handed the evidence to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office (CPS) in November to form post-Jimmy Saville Saville to tackle “non-received” crimes. CPS prosecutor Jaswant Narwal highlighted the aggressive legal process and urged the public to avoid commentary that could undermine the brand’s right to a fair trial.

Russell Brand reflects past actions: “I’m not living that way now.”

In a 223 interview with former Fox host Tucker Carlson, Brand said, “I know I’m in a very vulnerable position by being very indiscriminate. That’s not the type of act I support, and that’s certainly not the way I live now.”
