Lithuanian Defense Minister Doville Shakarien accused Russia of “ock-lol” the US government of refusing to be meaningfully involved in the ceasefire talks. Instead of putting pressure on the war to end, she warns that the Kremlin is moving forward by mobilizing 1.5 million students by the end of the year.
“In my opinion, they were already laughing at the US government, indicating that they are disrespecting any effort to reach an agreement,” she told Euronows.
Shakarien also said Russia has not been under pressure on the US, which requires them to make concessions to Ukrainian civilians and civil infrastructure or to halt military campaigns.
“On the other hand, why should they stop?” (their attack). They really transformed the economy into a war economy. They are moving very quickly in military reform. – We will have 1.5 million soldiers by the end of the year.”
Minister Sakarien was talking to a reporter during this year’s NATO military exercise.Iron Wolf“(indinating creatures from Lithuanian mythology) that included a simulated counterattack featuring German tanks and Lithuanian infantry combat vehicles.
The exercise also included an Air Force attack operation, including a paratrooper drop-off, as part of the US-led exercise “Swift Response.”
Six NATO allies were involved in exercises for the Air Tro force, including the US, Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands.
The key to this exercise is to assess the preparation of NATO to carry out military operations if Russia invades NATO territory, particularly the former Soviet republics of the Baltic states.
“Worthy” efforts are our efforts, but “military sources” are deterrents only.
Sakarien believes there is no incentive for Russia to halt its campaign in Ukraine. Nor does it have the “imperialist” ambitions across Europe that have been further strengthened by the Minister’s cooperation with North Korea, Iran and China.
“The Russian military industry is really speeding up. They are still moving forward in Ukraine. Why should they stop?”
The minister answered questions about the failure of peace negotiations in Turkey when President Putin introduced and sent a delegation led by the president’s aide Vladimir Medinsky to meet the Ukrainian delegation.
Ukrainian President Voldimuruzelensky went to Ankara to meet President Recept Tayyip Erdogan. He said he was willing to travel to Istanbul only if Putin appeared.
“So I don’t think that what I’m watching now is basically an ock lol game,” she said.
Although Sakalian called for an effort to stop the war “worthy” but ultimately, the only way to end the war in Ukraine was through military means.
“I think the US efforts to stop this war are worth it. We’ll see how it ends, but in my opinion, the only efficient way will be to regenerate the Ukrainian army and build military sources in Europe. That’s the only deterrent.”
NATO Defense Ministers will meet in Brussels next week when the UK and Germany convened NATO HQ’s Ukrainian Defence Liaison Group.
