Russian flag airline Aeroflot cancelled dozens of flights on Monday after claiming responsibility for cyberattacks on the airline’s systems.
Aeroflot said it has experienced service disruptions for all electronic systems and needs to adjust flight schedules.
The airline did not provide further details on how long it would take to cyberattacks or restore services, but warned passengers of delays or cancellations.
“Customers may encounter problems accessing our services,” the airline said in a statement.
“We ask that passengers be kind to monitor airport websites, information displays and real-time updates to public announcements across the airline’s route network.”
The airline said the technical team is “actively working to minimize the impact on flight operations and restore all services to normal as soon as possible.”
According to online flight trackers, at least 42 mostly domestic air flot flights had been cancelled late Monday morning.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the attack was “very uneasy” and Russian prosecutors confirmed that the aerofrott issue was the result of a cyberattack. A criminal investigation has been opened, the office said.
A hacking group called Silent Crow claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out alongside a Belarusian group called Cyberpartisans.
Silent Crow said the attack was directly linked to Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“Glory to Ukraine! Long Live Belarus!” the group said in a statement.
The group claimed it had destroyed around 7,000 Aeroflot servers, accessed flight history databases, and compromised critical corporate systems.
Silent Crow also threatened to begin releasing “personal data of all Russians who have ever flew an aeroflot.”
