See-Saw Films, Element, Monumental heads join Screen Summit’s trailblazing producers panel

Screen InternationalThe second annual film summit added a session featuring three major UK producers. Iain Canning, co-founder and co-CEO of See-Saw Films. Alison Owen, CEO of Monumental Pictures. Ed Guiney is CO-CEO and founder of Element Pictures.

The summit, entitled Building on Global Success in the UK, will be held on September 30th at BFI South Bank.

The three will be taking part in a panel entitled “The Trailblazers.” screen Editor-in-Chief Matt Mueller strives to share his wisdom on building a successful production company and strategies to embrace opportunities and navigate modern challenges.

Canning co-founded a seesaw film with his producer partner Emile Sherman in 2008 with his offices in London and Sydney. Canning (along with Sherman and Gareth Unwin) was awarded the best photo of the Oscar in 2011 The King’s Speech BAFTA’s Best Film Award The power of a dog 2022. Other feature productions from See-Saw include Lion, shame and One lifeand last year it announced a new partnership to develop and produce live-action films adapted from Michael End’s iconic novels. The company’s TV series includes award-winning items Slow horse For Apple TV+, Heart Stopper and Apple Cider Vinegar For Netflix, and Sweatpea For the sky. In March of this year, French production and distribution company Mediawan acquired a majority stake in See-Saw.

Owen established a monumental photograph in 2014 with Debra Hayward. The company’s projects include features How to make a girl and Back to blackand TV series Harlot and ghost. Owen previously founded the low budget film division for working titles and was also a producer. Save Mr Banks, Other Boeing Girls and Jane Eyre.

Owen has the best photos of Oscar and the best British movie Buffta Elizabeth. Monumental’s majority shareholder has been ITV Studios since 2019.

Guiney founded photographs of the elements, based in London and Dublin, along with Andrew Lowe in 2001. Included in the company’s recent feature productions Father’s shadow and PillionIt premiered in Cannes in May. That credit includes several films directed by Yorgos Lantimos, including multiple Oscars and Bakhta winners. Poor thing, Types of kindness And the title of the upcoming Venice competition Bgonia.

Included in Element’s series production A normal person, Conversation with friends, Gallow pole and Drying. In May 2022, Fremantle acquired a majority stake in the element to expand its international production capacity.

Previously confirmed speakers for Screen Summit 2025 include Ben Roberts, CEO of the British Institute of Film Studies. BBC Film, Bhula, Bhula, Film4, and Mia Bays, BFI Found Fund.
