The Senate was postponed to the summer on Saturday by majority John Tune (Rs.D.) after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement to allow dozens of Trump candidates to be promptly confirmed.
On August 1, Thune had the option to appoint a break, but that required a delay of at least 10 days, which required consent from the Senate.
