A group of 29 Senate Democrats led by Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) signed a letter on July 24, calling on the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department to lead an independent investigation into the events surrounding the death of U.S. citizen Saifra Musallett earlier this month.

“I wrote with serious concern about the brutal murder of Saihura Kamermusaro, a Palestinian American near Singil, West Bank, on July 11, 2025. The US government must conduct a reliable and independent investigation into his death and hold all perpetrators accountable,” reads a letter from Senate Democrats.
