Skull and Bones have released their second year roadmap, but it actually looks great

Ubisoft’s fate has improved a bit since the successful launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadow, but it cannot escape the fact that it had been on a thrilling ride before that. One of the few low-performing projects in that rough patch was a cooperative pirate game Skulls and bones -It was designed to rival the thief’s beloved sea, and was incredibly shortage at launch. Surprisingly, it is still plowing. What’s even more surprising is that I just saw the roadmap for my second year and it looks really impressive.

With a very disappointing critic score (our Skull and Bones Review Review Review) and what seemed like mediocre sales and player count, I was totally hoping that Ubisoft’s co-op game would be on the chopping block. When the truly enjoyable Arena Shooter Xdefiant was sentenced to death, I thought the skull and bones would follow immediately.

Imagine the surprise when reports come out claiming they will get support from their second year. Imagine my complete surprise today. Because these reports proved to be true. It’s become a better pirate game with the already busy schedule of live service games, receptions at launch, and perhaps UBI has just remastered my favorite Assassin’s Creed game, Black Flag. However, we must admit that the two roadmaps this year are pretty strong.

Season 1, which begins this week, kicks things off with some big new features and improvements. Item Ascension is a new mechanic that allows you to upgrade and add powerful mods to your gear. World Tiers adds new difficulty levels to veteran Seadogs, giving them the opportunity to earn already dominant rewards. A new midship type schooner has arrived. The Empire is under the microscope, with Helm improvements and a new upgrade tree, further expanding the reach. And finally, what is available in the mid-season is the tide of death – a proper and dedicated PVP experience provides a team-based, objective mode where you can capture points or rob enemies and win.

Skull and Bones’ second year season 1 will be released on Tuesday, April 15th. You can read the full patch notes of the update here. However, there will be more appearances this year.

Season 2 offers new encounters with Megafort. This is a huge, well-defended fortress that throws all sorts of long-range attacks at you. This season we will deliver a brand new ship that is bigger and brave than the previous ones. The frigate was the first large ship in the skull and bones, and is a huge ship packed with cannons.

Season 3 is the most likely transformational for the skull and bones. While introducing a new executive system, it will ultimately take away the dryness from the waves. Yes, land combat is coming to the game. It’s a huge aspect that was missing compared to its main rival, the thief’s sea.

Finally, Season 4 introduces another big ship to go with the frigate, and in the spirit of getting bigger, Kraken is added as a brand new Sea Monster. Kraken becomes the biggest creature the game has seen much more. The improved hunting system also arrives in Season 4.

Of course, it’s all spaced for the next 12 months or so, but that’s a rather impressive lineup of content. With giant ships, giant sea monsters, proper PVP modes, land combat, and more, you can take important steps to make your skulls and bones become the real sea of thieves’ rivals. Will that abdicate? I highly doubt that. But despite its “flop” status, it has become a soldier with some huge new features, cool content, great improvements and rework. I’ve seen pretty crazy red vapes over the years so this might be the latest.
