If you love the complexity and attention to detail in games like Snowrunner and Mudrunner, Roadcraft It’s probably on your radar. Heck, with today’s launch, you’re probably already putting up the slab carrying dirt while I’m writing this. But for those who are unaware, or are curious about whether Roadcraft is for them, you may be interested in learning how that launch date has passed. Well, at least in steam, the number of players looks pretty good, far higher than its off-road driving SIM predecessor achieved. However, there is work to do at the forefront of user scores.
We didn’t expect RoadCraft to make the team muscular on their way to Game of the Year discussion, but that’s exactly what happened. Ed’s Glowing Road Craft Review explains the seemingly esoteric subject – the use of various machines to build roads in a devastated environment, brilliantly gelled into something almost meditative. It is believed that the new path will be “a sensational dough on the same level as kneaded dough.”
Mudrunner and Snowrunner’s realistic off-road driving physics are here once more. You also need to make sure your vehicle is able to navigate certain routes.
From there, a lineup of machines is used to clean debris, level out the terrain, fill in grooves and holes, place new surfaces, and even build bridges. It’s a stable, systematic game, and given the strong reputation that Mudrunner and Snowrunner have established, players want to try out this new evolution from Saber Interactive.
Roadcraft just launched today, May 20th, reaching a very impressive peak of 33,761 simultaneous players count in steam. This is significantly higher than the lifetime peak achieved by beloved mud runners and snow runners, and the less respected expedition last year.
However, the number of players looks strong, but not all sunlight and rainbows. Mudrunner and Snowrunner both boast about 90% Steam user scores. That quality, RoadCraft sits on an incredibly low “mixed” rating of 57% at the time of writing. I’ve mostly seen complaints about control schemes and there are quite a few people comparing this to good snow runners (in their eyes). User reviews on the first day tend to be on the very responsive and harsh side, especially when the game starts up with tooth problems, but this score is lower than I thought.
Nevertheless, if you like building games and building games and want a fresh experience that also challenges driving and teamwork skills, RoadCraft is certainly for you.
